Andrea’s weekend morning rituals with the kids

“A dose of art, a bit of play and something new to read — while leaving a little room for mum too.”

Sunday mornings start with an art class for the boys at Chalk N Pencils, followed by a quick stop at Good Addition to stock up on everyday basics while the kids play in the in-store kids’ corner. Reading is a big part of the family routine, so it’s not uncommon for them to finish up at The Sea Apple Create Store or Woods in the Books, browsing for a new addition to the bedtime story collection.

Yong’s take on old school, new tricks

"The best kind of reinvention doesn't erase what came before. It takes something familiar and gives it a new reason to be noticed—or tasted—all over again."

There's the wood-fired scorched hor fun at One Prawn & Co, where a familiar local favourite gets turned all the way up with fire and smoke. A mandatory stop at Woods in the Books to uncover lesser known local stories. And a plate of Kios Minang, a taste of our nation's beloved soul food that needs little introduction.

Poppy’s paw-fect shift at New Bahru

"A neighbourhood patrol, a breakfast stop and a full day on the job—with plenty of scritches and treats along the way."

The shift calls for a neighbourhood patrol around New Bahru’s pet-friendly stores, greeting fellow neighbours and collecting as many scritches as possible. There’s also breakfast at Dearborn—a favourite for the humans, with belly rubs for Poppy—before heading back to Pop Pop Pets to run the shop, greet customers and earn some well-deserved treats along the way.
