NEW BAHRU PRESENTS: CITY IN SESSION

NEW BAHRU PRESENTS: CITY IN SESSION

New Bahru celebrates SG60

Once home to Nan Chiau Girls’ High School, this space has long been a place of learning, expression, and possibility. In the early years of Singapore’s independence, it gave young women—once expected to stay home—a chance to dream bigger. That spirit still lingers. Bold, hopeful, and people-centered, it continues to shape how New Bahru grows. Once a school and now a site of reimagination, New Bahru carries the legacy of this building forward as a catalyst for creativity and community.

This SG60, City In Session honours the evolving spirit of this place and the many creative forces shaping it today, celebrating how our city is built not only through grand gestures but also through everyday acts of creativity, care, and collaboration. Throughout August, New Bahru comes alive with community art, poetic tributes, immersive experiences, and shared moments—all led by some of Singapore’s most thoughtful creatives and brands. Together, they stand as a living testament to the people, ideas, and collective imagination shaping this city from the ground up.
